His Execellency John Dramani Mahama on 15th December, 2015 stated that 5 out of the 10 polytechnics in the country will be made Technical Universities. He made the statement at the launch of NDC's book "Accounting To The People" at the State Banquet Hall, Accra.
He further explained that 5 out of the 10 polytechnics were chosen because those 5 fit the standards for the conversion. As to when they would be converted to Technical Universities, he stated that, they are taking their time to put things together to make the conversion a success.
